How to Download Photos From iCloud to PC – Step By Step

Apple’s iCloud is one of the most popular cloud storage and file sharing solutions. However, like many other services from Apple, iCloud doesn’t necessarily play nice with other platforms. For example, there is no iCloud application available on Windows 10. Despite this, you can download photos from iCloud to PC.

Because of Apple’s usual complicated relationship with other platforms, many users think moving files from iCloud to PC is difficult. Luckily, that’s not the case and it’s deceptively simple to get your files on a Windows PC or Mac.

Plenty of users ask why they can’t simply copy images like they would with another solution, like Google Drive or Dropbox. Still, there is a way to download all photos from iCloud onto your Mac or PC. Here are the steps you need to follow:

Step 1. Head to iCloud.com, login, and head to photos as detailed in the steps above.

Step 2. Choose the “All Photos” album.

Step 3. Click the “Select Photos” button. It is located at the top of the main “Photos” bar.

Step 4. Hold down the SHIFT key and click the last photos in the album you are copying. By clicking this last image, all photos in the album will be selected. You will know this has happened if the Photos bar says “WXYZ items selected”.

Step 5. Select “Download”.

Step 6. Confirm the download to start the download.

Like with individual photos, the downloaded images will be sent to the location you store files from browser downloads. Furthermore, you could be downloading hundreds or even thousands of images, so the process may take some time.

Importantly, if you download multiple photos at once, Windows will compress them into a ZIP file. This does not change the resolution or quality but means you will need to use a program to extract them. We recommend ZArchiver and SHAREit.
